Do I need to stop smoking or drinking alcohol before the operation?
Smoking and alcohol both negatively affect the outcomes of any operation. Smoking can increase the time it takes for wounds to heal, for example. We therefore recommend that you stop smoking at least 6 weeks before the operation, if possible. This will improve your surgery outcomes and increase the chance of you reaching your procedure goals. Likewise, your surgeon will advise you to minimise your alcohol intake. This is part of following a healthy lifestyle, something which is vital for the success of your weight loss journey.
