Katie's own words
Which aspects of your role do you find most fulfilling?
"One of my favourite things about being a patient care advisor is being there for patients throughout the whole process. From the initial enquiry, to the day of treatment, and during the recovery period, we keep in touch and organise everything, as well as being there to answer any questions or help with any concerns. Surgery can be a life changing experience and another thing I love is talking to patients who are really happy with the results and feel that having their procedure improved their confidence and quality of life. I’m also very lucky to work with great colleagues who are passionate about making sure patients have the best surgical journey possible."
Your best memory with a patient
"One of my patients had a consultation with a surgeon and decided to take some time to think things over. A few months later, she came back to me interested in moving ahead with her breast reduction surgery as she was feeling prepared and ready. After her procedure, she said that her life had been changed and all her discomfort was gone, and she was so glad she had moved ahead with the procedure. It was really nice to be part of this journey for the patient."
If there was one thing you wish everyone knew
"Aftercare is a really important part of the surgical journey so its always important to attend your follow up appointments, wear any surgical garments you may need, and take the time off to recover."
One piece of advice you would give patients looking into cosmetic surgery
"Always prepare some questions for your consultation and ask everything, even if it doesn't seem important. It's essential you feel 100% prepared ahead of your surgery so use this as an opportunity to ask everything and get as much information as possible."

"I'm a trained soprano but for a while I was also in a 90s cover band."
