Mr Matthew Sala is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in all shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, fractures, sports and soft tissue injuries. Matthew has extensive experience in shoulder arthroscopic surgery, performing over 90% of procedures in this way, including Acromioclavicular ligament reconstruction; he is the earliest UK adopter of and has extensive experience with collagen scaffold augmentation implants for complex rotator cuff repair and inflatable spacer implants in rotator cuff deficiency, for which he is part of a national collaborative study. He is actively engaged in the Exactec Shoulder Replacement Steering Group, using intra-operative navigation techniques; also providing advanced surgeon training. Matthew is dedicated to education within medicine and holds an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College School at Medicine since 2001. He was also selected as an orthopaedic surgeon for the London 2012 Olympics. Patients describe him as empathetic, thorough and approachable.
