Mahbub Alam

Mr Mahbub (Mabs) Alam is a highly experienced Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, with a wealth of expertise in Knee Surgery and Sports Injuries. He was appointed to this role at Barking, Redbridge, Havering Hospitals NHS Trust in April 2014. Mr Alam's journey in the medical field began at University College London, where he received several accolades, including a Goldsmith�s Guild Scholarship. He has a keen interest in Orthopaedics and has completed various degrees and training, including a Master of Surgery (MS) in Biomechanics and Bioengineering at Imperial College London. His research in knee ligament injuries has earned him awards from prestigious organizations like the Royal College of Surgeons. Specializing in Knee and Sports Surgery, Mr Alam has a particular focus on Knee Arthroscopy, Meniscal Surgery, and various Knee Ligament Reconstructions. He holds multiple qualifications, including an MB BS, BSc (Hon), and an FRCS in Trauma & Orthopaedics. His training involved developing innovative devices for diagnosing knee injuries and monitoring treatment outcomes. Apart from his medical duties, Mr Alam is committed to teaching and mentoring students in Tower Hamlets, providing educational support beyond the medical field. Furthermore, he is involved in clinical and biomechanical research, with publications in international journals on topics related to knee injuries and surgical techniques. Outside of his professional life, Mr Alam is a dedicated chess player and a passionate hockey enthusiast. His commitment to both sports has been evident throughout his career, with Mr Alam having captained his university's Hockey team. Additionally, he is a family man, happily married with a young daughter who brings him joy and surprises every day.
