Professor Ishaque is committed to patient education and involvement in the decision-making process. He advocates for non-surgical options before considering surgery and is an expert in using needles around the spine for procedures such as nerve root blocks, facet joint injections, and radiofrequency ablation. He has also pioneered the use of laser technology to reduce leg pain caused by pressure on spinal nerves. Professor Ishaque has received numerous accolades, including fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He holds a Higher Doctorate in the Genetics of Degenerative Disc Disease and has received prestigious awards for his research in this field. Professor Ishaque completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge and has a First Class Degree in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of London. He has undergone specialized spinal training on the Combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spinal Program in Vancouver, Canada. He is actively involved in teaching and examining medical students and candidates for the FRCS(Orth) final examination. In addition to his private practice, Professor Ishaque holds an honorary visiting chair in Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery at the Postgraduate Medical Institute and The Ameer-ud-Din Medical College. On a personal note, Professor Ishaque was born and raised in London. He has dedicated over 20 years to the NHS before focusing exclusively on private practice in 2013. He is married to a part-time NHS GP and has three children. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports and has a particular interest in skiing and golf.
